MASTER OF COMPUTER APPLICATION (MCA) 2 years Full Time Course

 


ABOUT THE COURSE

Masters Degree in Computer Application (MCA) 2-year Full Time Course is an attempt to synchronize the newest developments in Information Technology with the current Industry Requirements. The Course is affiliated to Dibrugarh University and is approved by AICTE, MHRD, Govt. of India.

 

OBJECTIVES

MCA is a course exclusively designed to meet the IT requirements of IT trained students for various organization. The programme is extremely balanced with lot of emphasis given on planning, designing and building of complex commercial application software and system software, with equal importance given to functional knowledge in various areas. The three year full time MCA course is not just a post graduate course, it is a complete professional grooming of the students for successful career in IT industry. The programme is intended to have the following objected :

1. To appreciate the role of Computers and Information Technology in the present world, with its potential for development in the future.

2. To enable a proven level of mastery in the Operating Systems, Programming Languages, Rapid Application Development (RAD) tools, and application package that are in extensive use in the industry.

3. To develop analytical, problem solving and decision making skills that are demanded by Information Technological applications.

4. To develop all round personality and communicative traits to meet the expectations of employees in both public and private sectors.


AFFILIATION & APPROVAL

The 2 year full time MCA programme at NERIM School of Computer Science is conducted as per the prescribed regulations and syllabi of Dibrugarh University. The course is also approved by the All India Council for Technical Education ( AICTE), MHRD, Govt. of India.

COURSE STRUCTURE AND SYLLABUS

As per the regulation and course syllabi of Dibrugarh University, the 2-year Full Time MCA Programme consists of 4 semesters each of 6 months duration, having 2 semesters per year. In addition to compulsory papers, the students are offered to select electives in each Semester of the programme and shall be required to undertake a Project Work of 4th Semester.


ELIGIBILITY

Passed B.C.A/B.Sc. (Computer Science)/B.Tech (IT)/ B.E. (CSE)/B.Tech (CSE)/B.E. (IT)/ B.Tech. (IT) or equivalent Degree.
OR
Passed any graduation degree B.Sc/B.Com. / B.A./ B.Voc preferably with Mathematics at 10+2 level or at Graduation level.
Note: Candidate having graduation without mathematics has to undertake 1 year additional bridge course

Obtained at least 50% marks (45% marks in case of candidate belonging to the reserve category) in the qualifying examination.


SELECTION PROCEDURE

Selection for Admission into 2 year full time MCA programme shall be made on the basis of NERIM Entrance Test (NET) for MCA. The entrance test of 100 marks shall comprise of questions from Mathematics, English, Reasoning, Computer Science and General Awareness.

N.B. : Eligibility criteria and procedure for Admission is subject to change from time to time as per the notification of the University.


REQUIREMENT OF CLASS ROOM ATTENDANCE

A student of MCA (2 Year Programme) shall have to attend minimum 80% of total classes to be eligible to appear in each End Semester examination conducted by Dibrugarh University.


EXAMINATION (AS PER REGULATION OF THE DIBRUGARH UNIVERSITY)

There shall be 4 examinations at the end of each semester, namely semester I, semester II, semester III and semester IV to be conducted by the University at such dates and times as may be fixed by the University. Each paper shall be of 100 marks of which 60 marks will be End semester examination and 40 marks will be for Internal. There shall be project work presentation/ Viva Voce in semester IV Examination.


AWARD OF DEGREE

Successful candidates shall be awarded the degree of Master of Computer Application (MCA) by Dibrugarh University. Their result is declared on the basis of CGPA System.
